Position you are running for: VP Internal Services
What do you believe are the main concerns for students in SAF right now? How would you like to approach fixing them?
I believe that SAF students face a lot of pressure to succeed in terms of academics, being involved in the community, managing their co-op, and finding themselves a social environment in which they can escape some of this pressure. AFSA’s current initiatives address some of these concerns but there are many areas that have room for growth and improvement. Not only would I like to continue taking part in building a friendly and encouraging community at SAF through AFSA, I also want to develop events and introduce initiatives that will better serve students by making their opinions a larger part of the process and stressing the importance of asking firsthand for feedback from previous projects and for the needs that they feel have not yet been met.
Why are you running for this position? (experience, background & motivation)
From my experience as a Project Manager and later, one of the Deputy Vice Presidents of the Internal Services committee, I have a good understanding of what this committee needs in order to function properly and successfully. I am running for this position not only because I am capable but more importantly, because I love my committee, I genuinely enjoy being involved in everything that goes into the events that we plan, and I am determined in making sure our committee continuously improves in the methods and capacities that we serve our peers.

As AFSA’s Vice President of Internal Services, I’m prepared and committed to improve your student experience through delivering invaluable professional and career development workshops and implementing the necessary changes to make our services even more helpful.
My goal for the committee is first and fore-mostly to be a positive support system for SAF. I want to lead the committee in a way where it can continue serving as a resource for students concerning areas that aren’t touched upon inside the classroom, through job preparation workshops, career information series, and destress events. With that said, going forward I believe it’s important to focus on making sure our events are more inclusive and accessible.
Furthermore, I’d like to work more closely with other AFSA committees to grow some of our current events. This past winter term, our annual Tax Clinic was a huge success due to the collaboration we had with the Corporate Relations committee. I look forward to creating more opportunities for more collaborations to happen in the future to not only augment projects that Internal Services puts forth but ultimately to do so for other committees as well.
