Position you are running for: VP Education
What do you believe are the main concerns for students in SAF right now? How would you like to approach fixing them?
I believe that the main concern for SAF right now is that we must grow as a community and be there to support one another’s success. My main goal if I have the opportunity to become Vice President of Education is to support the success of all students within SAF and to create a closer sense of community. This will allow all students within the school to feel welcome and to have an equal opportunity amongst others. I hope to do this by hosting sessions that will allow students to connect with peers from all years and make long term connections with people that will support their future success. I hope to implement additional sessions that include having upper year panels, so that any of the younger students can address their concerns and find a way to improve upon them. This will not only help the younger students but also the older students who would be helping, as they get to create new connections and help these students grow to improve the reputation of SAF overall.
Why are you running for this position? (experience, background & motivation)
There are many reasons why I am running for VP of Education. To begin, I believe that this role requires someone who is passionate, dedicated, and always striving for growth and improvement. These are all characteristics that I believe represent who I am. This past year I joined AFSA Education and was chosen to become Deputy Vice President in second term. This was an amazing experience and I would love the opportunity to return to AFSA Education as the VP. I feel that in my term as Deputy Vice President I was able to make a significant impact on the students of SAF. As a committee we were able to increase attendances for our study sessions, with our AFM 121 midterm session having 126 students’ in attendance. This was a huge success because our main goal is to help and support as many students as possible. We were also able to increase productivity to help students in as many ways as possible. We did so by going from 2 first year courses in first term to taking on 3 courses in second term.

I believe that there are so many reasons as to why you should vote for me. To begin, in everything that I do I give all of my myself to ensure that I represent SAF the best that I possibly can. I am always taking on roles to represent the school, whether that be internally or externally. I am a SAF ambassador and I chose to take on this role as I am very passionate about our school and my hopes are to share this passion and to attract students with a similar passion so that they want to come to the School of Accounting and Finance. If I am elected to be VP of Education, I will apply this passion to AFSA and do everything that I can to promote the school as a whole and make this year the most enjoyable and memorable one yet. I also represent the university externally through my active participation in case competitions at universities all over Ontario. This allows me to make connections with students from the top business schools across the province and promote the School of Accounting and Finance. As I mentioned previously, the education committee has been able to make significant improvements over the past year through increased attendance and providing additional support. This is something that I would like to continue and hope that throughout the year we can continue to promote. This will allow us to maintain our large attendances and will provide more resources to the students so that we can have a larger reach. All-in-all, you should vote for me because I am here to help each and every student of the School of Accounting and Finance, provide equal opportunity and be a friend to all. Thank you for your time and consideration.
