Position you are running for: AFSA Board of Directors

What do you believe are the main concerns for students in SAF right now? How would you like to approach fixing them?

The main concern for students in SAF right now are the lack of social activities for the students. This does not have to be an external event but this can be within the school itself to promote how close knit the SAF community is. It is important to note that many SAF students feel a disconnect with the whole student body and having internal events will help mitigate those claims. My approach to fixing them will be through incorporating various team building activities within the school premises and this will help students build networks and expand on the relationships outside of their own circle.

Why are you running for this position? (experience, background & motivation)

The Board of Directors role is to oversee what the organization's current goals are and to pass or question decisions that the Board disagrees with. I want to see an open communication forum with the committee and the board so that the board is always up to date with events going on. Being on the Board is more than just a position, it is about connecting and aligning with the AFSA committee to make sure the SAF community gets the help and guidance they deserve.

Students should vote for me because I already have experience with AFSA in my previous role as an executive. This provides me with the foundation needed to make decisions and help the board come up with conclusions. This eliminates the process of introducing the topic and provides a stable relying force to know that I have the experience needed to know what takes place in SAF. Being a previous executive member shows that I am aware of what it feels like to be in a position to be told that an idea is not strong enough nor lacks the potential to be executed. The idea of staying determined towards a given goal is something that I resonate with, giving the AFSA executive team the ability to showcase the ideas in a manner which will allow them to feel heard and appreciated. I want a successful year with the SAF community, and I believe I have what it takes through my previous AFSA experience to be a strong Board of Directors member.
